K is taking a couple of art classes this year. One is a wonderful watercolor class with a great emphasis on creativity. The paintings below were done the first week, then cut up and turned into a mobile.
Then K has another art class that is focused on emulating the masters. I'm less keen on this one. K has had fun, and is producing some lovely art, but I'm not crazy about the copying and focus on "correctness." This is our last month there - other issues with this location are wearing me down, and the class is not great enough to make me keeping going there.
In any case, here is a portrait K did the first week.
And here is my favorite - charcoal hands touching, a la Michaelangelo.

For some reason I can't see all the pictures. I reall love the two first ones which I can see.
I also can only see two pictures. But I love them!!! The one with the gold and purple flowers is especially beautiful.
I understand what you are saying about copying the masters. I think Princess is way too young for that. It can be a helpful technique when children are older though, as a lot about the master's methods is conveyed wordlessly as the children try to copy their effect. Certainly not for such a little one though!
I also saw two of the pictures, they are beautiful! O would not have been able to produce artwork like that at K's age. We were still working on coloring within the lines then:O
